Time management - the key to productivity.

Everyone wants to be more productive right?

Time is the one currency we all have equal amounts of.

So how can you protect your time and maximise your days to accomplish what you want to achieve?

Here are 5 ideas.


  1. Have a clear vision.

When you know where you’re going and what you want to achieve it is easier to prioritise the key tasks that need to get done in order for you to achieve your goals.

Write down your vision and review it daily. Keep it somewhere within your sight at all times.

This will keep you motivated and the momentum high.

We wouldn't set out on a journey without knowing where we were going so why do we do this with our lives?


  1. Plan the night before

Once you know the key tasks that need to get done its time to schedule it in. What doesn’t get scheduled won't get done. Always start the day with the most important task first.

Turn off your phone, emails and close all other tabs. Do not try and multitask this is the biggest killer of time and productivity.

Once you have allocated and blocked out the time to get the most important tasks done you can begin to fill your day with other activities. 


  1. Learn to delegate

Treat your time like its money. Don’t spend time doing tasks that you could outsource or delegate to someone else who perhaps would be able to do the task in a more efficient manner.

You can’t do it all. When I founded my first business I was working 14 hour days 6 days a week. I knew I could not keep it up for long.

One thing I decided to outsource was housework. I thought the last thing I want to do on my 1 day off is catch up on housework.

So I decided to pay a cleaner to come in once a week. This helped me stay focused on my work without me worrying about life admin on top of everything else I was doing. Eventually, I began to hire a team and began to work on the business, not in the business.

It can be hard to let go of certain tasks, but when you develop self-awareness and understand you can't do it all it does make that process a lot easier.


  1. Remove distractions.

It is hard to focus when there are multiple devices pinging at you all day.

When starting a new task ensure you turn off all distractions. Put your phone away and on do not disturb. Close all other tabs and get to work.

If you work in an open-plan office let others know not to disturb you during certain times of the day.

This will gain respect and even inspire others to rethink how they spend their day and priorities their schedules.



  1. Set intentions

How we start our day impacts the rest of the day. Upon waking I like to sit for 10 minutes and meditate. I visualise my goals and what I want to achieve that day. I then set my intentions for how I want to show up.

What kind of person do I want to be?

How do I want to feel?

I believe our inner word always reflects the results in the outer world. 

Asking myself this key question each day “What is the ONE thing I can do today that will have the biggest impact on my life”. This helps me get super clear and laser-focused.

I then affirm how I want to feel and move into the day with energy knowing I am capable of achieving what I set out to achieve.


Time management is a key determining factor for success in life.

The things you don’t prioritise won't improve.

Get clear on what you want, ensure you schedule in the time to get it done, visualise yourself achieving it and believe you can accomplish all you set out to do.
